Why Mostphotos?
Mostphotos is a microstock agency based in Sweden with offices in Stockholm and Västerås. They are a one of the mid-table agencies I contribute to. With 65,444 contributors and 11,815,942 Total contributions (Status 28/03/2016) it is quite a vibrant stock library. They have a community based rating system integrated, so pictures that collect a lot of “hearts” will be displayed on the front page to boost sales.
“We believe that anyone can make great images and we have created Mostphotos to be the platform where anyone can start selling their images in just a few clicks.”
Acting accordingly to this philosophy, Mostphotos is the only big stock agency that has no moderation process! That means all your pictures and illustrations will be straight accepted and ready for sale. No waiting, no hassle with rejections – you can basically use Mostphotos as a back-up for all your files. (You can download them yourself too.)Without ever being rejected you can just try out which work sells well and which doesn’t.
Royalty System – What do you earn?
“We share 50/50 on sales and you get paid via Paypal, Skrill or bank transfer.”
And it gets better: in addition to not having any moderation process, you also earn 50% royalties!
A single download of a small picture (800×533) costs the buyer $7.90, a medium sized picture (1800×1200) costs $11.90 and a large picture (original size) is sold for $35.
Tip: You can follow other contributor. That enables you to get notified every time they sell a graphic. That will give you a good impression of the sales potential Mostphotos has for you. Some of the people I follow seem to do very well!
Conclusion
Mostphotos might not bring in as many sales as the big stock agencies, but because of the easiness of becoming a contributor and the royalties, I think it’s a useful community to be a part of!
